Ditch the Headset? PlayStation Unveils New Pulse Elevate Wireless Speakers

During its jam-packed State of Play this week, Sony didn't just show off games. It also gave us a first look at a brand-new piece of kit for your setup: the Pulse Elevate wireless speakers. Billed as PlayStation's very first wireless speakers for desktop gaming, they're designed to give you that immersive, high-quality audio experience, without having to wear a headset.

So, is it time to free your ears? Let's break down what these new speakers are all about.

High-End Audio for Your Desk

The main selling point here is premium, lifelike sound. The Pulse Elevate speakers use "planar magnetic drivers," which is a fancy way of saying they use high-end, studio-inspired tech to deliver incredibly accurate audio. The goal is for you to hear games exactly as the developers intended, with rich detail across the board. For PS5 players, this also means they fully support the Tempest 3D AudioTech, helping you pinpoint exactly where those footsteps or laser blasts are coming from.

Smart, Seamless & Portable

Sony has packed these speakers with some clever features that make them more than just a standard set of speakers.

  • Built-in Mic with AI: Want to chat in-game without a headset? The right speaker has a microphone built-in. It uses AI-enhanced noise rejection to filter out background noise, so your voice should come through crystal clear.

  • PlayStation Link & Bluetooth: They connect to your PS5, PC, Mac, and PlayStation Portal using the super-fast, lossless PlayStation Link technology for lag-free sound. They also have Bluetooth, so you can connect your phone at the same time.

  • Go Portable: With a built-in rechargeable battery and included charging docks, you can easily grab them and go, pairing them with your PlayStation Portal or smartphone for gaming on the move.

The Pulse Elevate wireless speakers are set to launch sometime in 2026 and will be available in both Midnight Black and the classic PlayStation White. No price has been announced just yet, but they're definitely shaping up to be a premium option for gamers who want top-tier audio without being tethered to a headset.
