Grab your favourite mug and get comfortable, because Sony just dropped a 40-minute showcase packed with exciting updates, surprise reveals, and deep dives into some of the most anticipated games for the PlayStation 5. The latest State of Play gave us a fantastic glimpse into what's coming in late 2025 and into 2026.

Here’s our breakdown of the biggest announcements you need to know about.

Major New Game Reveals

The show came out swinging with some incredible new titles that have players buzzing:

  • 007 First Light: We finally got our first look at the new James Bond origin story from the talented team at IO Interactive. Set in the 1960s, the trailer showcased a young Bond at the very beginning of his legendary career. It promises a thrilling narrative and is set to launch in 2026.

  • Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls: In a surprise collaboration, PlayStation Studios and fighting game masters Arc System Works announced a brand new 4v4 tag-team fighter. With reimagined Marvel characters and the slick visual style Arc System Works is famous for, this is a dream come true for fighting game fans. Look for it in 2026.

  • Nioh 3: Team Ninja is back! The next chapter in the punishing action-RPG series is coming to PS5 in early 2026. For those who can't wait, a surprise demo is available to play right now on the PlayStation Store.

Highly Anticipated Updates and Release Dates

We also got crucial updates and, most importantly, release dates for games we've been dying to play:

  • Silent Hill f: The terrifying journey into 1960s Japan finally has a release date. Prepare to face the horrors when Silent Hill f launches on September 25, 2025. The new trailer was as beautiful as it was unsettling.

  • Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles: The long-rumoured remaster is real! This beloved strategy RPG is coming to PS5 and PS4 on September 30, 2025. It will include both an enhanced version with full voice acting and graphical updates, as well as a classic version for purists.

  • Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater: A new action-packed gameplay trailer showed off the stunning visuals of the Unreal Engine 5 remake, giving us a fresh look at familiar locations and gadgets. It's slated for release on August 28, 2025.

A ton of other great games were shown, from indie darlings to new VR titles. Here are a few more highlights to keep on your radar:

  • Free Astro Bot DLC: The charming Astro Bot is getting new levels this summer, with five new "Vicious Void Galaxy" challenge levels and new Special Bots to collect.

  • Lumines Arise: A brand new entry in the iconic puzzle series is coming in Fall 2025, with optional PS VR2 support.

  • Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement: A new 2.5D side-scrolling adventure in the 'Igavania' style is set to launch in 2026.

  • PS Plus Classics: A treasure trove of classic games are coming to the PlayStation Plus catalog, including Deus Ex, Twisted Metal 3 & 4, and the original Resident Evil 2 & 3.
