Fresh Pot! Your CupofPlay Recap of the September 2025 State of Play!
Well, that was a busy one! Sony just wrapped its latest State of Play, and they really packed the announcements in. From deep dives on huge exclusives to a ton of exciting release dates, there was something for everyone. So, settle in with your favourite drink, and let's get into the biggest news from the show!
The Big Guns: Wolverine and Saros
The show was bookended by two of PlayStation Studios' most anticipated titles, and they did not disappoint.
Marvel's Wolverine is Brutal (and Dated for Fall 2026!) We finally got the moment we've been waiting for: a raw, extended look at gameplay for Marvel's Wolverine. Insomniac Games is not holding back, as the footage was filled with visceral, bloody combat that perfectly captures Logan's berserker rage. We saw him tear through enemies, and got glimpses of classic foes like Omega Red and even a Sentinel. The biggest news? The game is officially slated to launch in Fall 2026.
Saros Gameplay Deep Dive Kicking off the show, Housemarque (Returnal) gave us a nearly five-minute gameplay demo of their new sci-fi adventure, Saros. We saw the hero, Arjun Devraj, using abilities like the "Soltari Shield" to absorb and return enemy fire on the shifting planet of Carcosa. The action looks just as slick and particle-heavy as you'd expect. Mark your calendars, because Saros is coming on March 20, 2026.
